Printed Circuit Board Industry Seminar
According to Taiwan media reports, the Taiwan Printed Circuit Association (TPCA) held the "Outlook 2018 Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Industry Key Trends Seminar". Due to the clear demand for PCB in 2018, it is estimated that the output value of PCBs on both sides of Taiwan Strait will grow about 4% this year.
According to reports, the data provided by the Taiwan Printed Circuit Association indicates that PCB production made by cross-strait businessman in 2017 was valued at NT$619.92 billion, which represents a 9.5% growth compared to 2016. In 2018, the recovery in the US and Europe led to the growth of consumer demand. Thus, it is estimated that global electronic products will have sustained growth momentum, and the demand for PCBs will also show a clearer status. It is conservatively estimated that in 2018, the cross-strait PCB production value of Taiwanese businessmen will grow by about 4%.
Zhongming Dong, a senior analyst at the Industrial Technology Research Institute, said that Taiwan’s circuit board manufacturers still hold the leading position with a market share of 31.3%, followed by Japan’s 20.5% and the mainland’s 17.4%. On the other hand, PCB market share of Japan and South Korea have the recession trend, while the mainland PCB manufacturers are still in a strong growth stage.
However, according to the forecast of the IEK, although the current global circuit board production is concentrated in the mainland, and the major circuit board producers in India and Southeast Asia are still low, the importance of the Southeast Asian market is increasing in recent years, its proportion is expected to increase from 8.6% in 2014 to 11.5% in 2021.
